Baptism in the Jordan River & Kursi National Park

Sunday January 21st we left the Caesar Hotel at 7:45 am for our day journeys.  The first stop was at the southern end of the Sea of Galilee where the Jordan River exits and runs towards the Dead Sea.  At this location is a baptismal site called Yardinet.  I had the privilege of baptizing Don & Bev Gordon. The water was quite cold and the ground slippery and with the possibility of falling we opted for a pouring rather than immersion baptism.

Having crossed over to the east bank of the Jordan River we now drove north along the east side of the Sea of Galilee to Kursi National Park.  It is the site of a 6th Century Byzantine Monastery and where Jesus healed to demon possessed men by casting the demons into nearby swine (Matt. 8:28-32).
